First Night Inline Blading in my Life.

After sleeping till late, 6.30pm in the day yesterday(16 May 2009) I decided that I would work it out at night!
Starting at my House I got my gears ready and got my Inline Skates on. There at 3.30am Starts my Journey which
would be recorded below.

START-Potong Pasir Avenue 1
First Stop-ABC Bargain Centre near my House to purchase Flashing Lights for Safety
Travelled down Upper Serangoon Road, went underneath PIE, continued on Serangoon Road
Second Stop-Prata Shop at Serangoon Road where I had Early Breakfast to give me Energy. I had 1 x Teh Talik and 2 x Egg Prata
- Continued down Serangoon Road,
- Past Boon Keng MRT Station,
- Continued to Junction of Serangoon Road, Boon Keng and Towner Road, There I turned towards Boon Keng Road. Here mostly Industrial Building, not much Traffic, very nice to Skate.
- Continued on the Road to a Bridge and Crossed it to Upper Boon Keng Road and at that Junction turned into Lorong Geylang. Hmm... Wondering why I travelled here? Haha. Going Geylang ar, not for the Girls there but actually wanted to Skate to Geylang for... Read on to find out...
- Saw Kallang Station and turned into Sims Avenue. Here, alot of Durian Stalls. Haha... Not coming to Geylang for Durian though. I travelled down the entire stretch of Road. For what? To Search for a You Tiao Stall la. wanted to eat Dou Jiang You Tiao for Breakfats before returning Home ar.
- Travelled down entire stretch of road till I reach a Junction between Sims Avenue and Paya Lebar Road. No More Lor Geylang le. Didn't see the Stall too. Must be on the other side of the Road I guess.
- Went onto Geylang Road and travelled down it.
Third Stop-7-11 Store at Lor 26 Geylang, a bit tired... Wanted a Drink but ended up buying some Capsule containing Little Miss and Mr Handphone Keychain. Had a Mr Happy and Little Miss Sunshine. Haha. Both Yellow and very Nice. In the end, didn't buy drink because after some thoughts, if I drink and in the next street I find the You Tiao Store how?
- Went on along Geylang Road. Then, haha... started seeing the many girls... Not Chiou enough to distract me though. Maybe I am hungry, but I was focusing on looking for my You Tiao Store. Not much Durian Stores here, more Coffee Shops with Old Uncles drinking with the Girls, and alot of Handphone Stores... I wonder who buys Handphone at this hour...
- Appears that no Hope le. I reached Lorong 4 Geylang and didn't find the Store. At the Road Junction between Geylang Road and Sims Way, I took out my Phone and search on forums for the place. On one of the forum, it says the stall had shifted to Lorong 27 Geylang. Too Bad... I didn't felt like turning back. Decided too... Go for the alternative... a Beancurd Store at Selegie. Remember there is one there.
- Travelled along Sims Way then turn into Sims Avenue, Past Kallang Station and continues towards Lavender Station along the Rail Tracks.
- Reached the Junction before Lavender Station and had to look at Map again which way to go... Not sure of the way, I turned into Lavender Street
- Travelled for a while deicded that I might be wrong... so turn left at ???
- Continued on Turned Left at ???
- Went into Petain Road and travelled to Serangoon Road. Haha. Because I know from Serangoon Road travelled against Traffic can reach Little India which is very near Selegie.
- Past Mustafa Shopping Centre and continued to Tekka Mall
- Cross Juction between Serangoon Road, Sungei Road then another Junction between Serangoon Road and Rochor Canal Road onto Selegie road.
- Travelled down Selegie Road to where the Store should be... Apparently it is closed... Not 24 hrs ba... Hai... Disappointed.
- Cross the Road to Paradiz Centre 7-11 to grab a Drink. Got a $2 Pokka Sports Drink instead of Pocari 330ml which cost $1.80
- Travelled down to Princep St and turn Left into Bras Basah at the Junction
- Turned again at Junction between Brash Basah and Bencoolen Street.
- Continued on Bencoolen Street... I am actually on my way to Lavender Street. Want to go Waterways Watch Society to do duty.
- Past NAFA and landed at Bencoolen Square. Past by a Internet Cafe, $1/hr so cheap right? Decided to Blog this route before I forget the places I past. Seems a long way to go to reach WWS. got to go now. :) continue blogging when I am home ba.

First Participation as Grassroot Leader

Today, for the First Time I attended a Grassroot Leader. Very New though, not assisting in the event. But after being in the army for so long, the scene of others working hard for an event triggers fond memories of my time with South West CDC. It reminded my Comitment to being a Grasseroot Leader, that is to be able to contribute more to my community. I think this is something that differentia me from many others. To me, I always have a sence of calling that I can do much more to make a difference to other people's life. Volunteering as a Grassroot Leader this provides me with a platform to do so. It provides the funding and infrastructure to allow me to do so. Tomorrow I will be attending the New Grassroot Leaders Induction Program. It would mark the start of my life as a Grassroot Leader. May my life as a grassroot leader be a fufilling one for myself and for those around me

Food Junction at Bugis Junction!

isited Bugis Junction today. It seem like so long never visit the place le. G-Factory and the wallet shop shifted one shop to their right. Best is that after the renovation at basement I thought the food court is gone. However, today then I realise it is on level 4. It has got bigger and nicer. Loved the Window seat. Very good view. With nice ambience and good view plus nice food. What else can you ask for? I bought the spaghetti above. Look at the way the chef wrestle with it and all the fire and stuff. Looking at it makes you hungry. The result is seen below. In terms of taste, I give it 7 out of 10. TRY IT at Bugis Junction next time you visit Bugis Junction. Only $6.80.

First Pepper Lunch and Yoshinoya's New Year Meal

W ent to Bishan Junction 8 today. Was very tired and didn't had much appetite. Decided to study first, eat later. Went to Bishan Community Library. It was rather conducive. I was lucky to have some girls leaving so took over their seats. Nice view when studying. It helps alot when you are stressful. which is why my study table always faces the window.

However, it wasn't long before the sun starts to change everything. It was by the window, so the sun shone right through and it was really bright, just look at how clear the picture taken was and you understand what I meant. Not only was it too bright for my read comfortable... It was also getting hot. Shifting one seat in does not seem to have any effect.

Can't help, decided to go for lunch instead. Went to Bishan Junction 8 and saw Pok Chai Ying. Working at S & K. Seems as happy as ever. Hmm... Great to see old friends. Then wanted to eat Long John Silver. But so packed. Same goes to Mac, KFC and Mos Burger. But also because I am alone. So cannot have anyone help me look after my seat while I ge my meal ma. Went to Yoshinoya, not pack, but the price a bit steep. So decided to eat at food court. Then saw something really appetitising. Pepper Lunch Express. First time eating Pepper Lunch. Though it is express, but I dun think it is a lot of difference right? Any difference?

Interesting in the sense like you need to cook the vegetable yourself. And the hot plate is supposed to be 260 degrees. WOW! HOT!!!

Haha. Of course, Pictures again.... Cute Right? But looking at my blog, seems like I am eating so much more during examination.

But I do not like the Food Court. There is camera rotating. Like looking at me eat. I do not like that... Anyway, I found that eating alone at Food Court is difficult. You need at least 2. One can help to look after the seat. If not difficult to get the seat. I have to carry the food and stand around to wait for the food. Lucky, a family was nice enough to ask me over and tell me they leaving. Then I can have my meal...

After that walked around the shopping centre and the Majesty was doing the same too. Haha.

First Time at Haagen-Dazs

Had Ice-Cream at Haagen-Dazs. Very nice flavours. I took Lemon Sorbet, Macamadia and Ram Rasin. Very nice oh. With 2 Toppings, Caramel and Hot Chocolate Fudge. Perfect Stress Reliever. First time at Haagen-Dazs, not bad... I think comparable with Swensen and Bens & Jerry. No matter what, I think I am eating more and more Ice-Cream... They are just so nice aren't they?

Also, found a good book. The prediction for Dragon Personality very accurate! Haha. Wanted to buy but it cost $11.70 la. Very expensive. If anyone buying, lend me alright?

Cars kill two people every minute. In 1930, a million cars on the Britain roads led to 7300 deaths; in 1999, 27 million cars led to less than 3650 deaths. Same with the US. Now, people most affected by road accidents are world's poor; 67% of road deaths occur every year in developing countries and 67% of those killed are pedestrians. New cars with safety checks, safety components like airbags or ABS breaks, well-maintained roads, laws against drinking and driving, are all cited as reasons why developed countries aren't as affected.
Since 1977, there have been nearly 80,000 acts of violence or disruption at abortion clinics in North America.

More people can identify the golden arches of McDonalds than the Christian cross. Survey of 7,000 people in six countries (including the US) showed that the Shell oil logo, the Mercedes badge and the five Olympic rings were recognized far more widely than the Christain cross. In Britain, less than 20% said they were influenced by religion; churches complain consumerism is replacing faith. In America, 92% believe in God and 33% attend a place of worship at least once a week.
In Kenya, bribery payments make up a third of the average household budget. A request for 'kitu kidogo' (something small) is common in Kenya; Kenyans say its hard to get anything without bribery. Corruption further hurts poor countries because it deters foreign investment. [ more ]
The world's trade in illegal drugs is estimated to be worth around $400 billion -- about the same as the world's legal pharmaceutical industry. About 200 million around the world abuse drugs. In Netherlands, marijuana is sold through 'coffee shops' and the amount sold to each customer is regulated by police; interestingly, while 37% of Americans admit to using marijuana, only 16% of the Dutch had done so. A third of Americans believe aliens have landed on Earth. Not just the US -- a 1999 poll in Britain showed that 61% of British teenagers believed in aliens and UFOs. 80% of Americans thinks that the government is hiding information on this topic. UFO visits, interestingly, have only been widely reported in the last 50 years -- a mere blip in a planetary history that spans 4 billion years.
More than 150 countries use torture. That's more than two thirds of all the countries. [ more ]
Every day, one in five of the world's population -- some 800 million people -- go hungry. Incredibly, this is not caused by food shortages. The world produces enough food each year to feed all its inhabitants. Healthy diet requires 2,500 calories a day; an American consumes 3,600 calories a day while a Somalian gets 1,500. Nobel laureate Amartya Sen says it's because poor people have no money to secure a constant food supply, and no resources to grow their own food. [ more ]
Black men born in the US today stand a one in three chance of going to jail. In June 2002, the number of people behind bars hit 2 million and the US overtook Russia as the world's largest prison population. One in every 37 Americans has spent time in jail, up from one in 53 in 1974. For children born in 2001, a white male has 1 in 17 chance of going to jail; hispanics are 1 in 6, blacks are 1 in 3. Black people make up 12.9% of the US population. Sentencing project also reports that 70% of those sentenced in state prisons were convicted of non-violent crimes, of whom drug offendors were 57%. Drunk driving is the most frequent category of arrests in America with 1.8 million each year; drunk drivers kill 22,000 people, yet punishment for drunk-driving is a misdemeanour (punished by fines) while posession of drugs gets upto 5 years in jail. It costs the US $30,000 to keep a prisoner in jail for a year.
A third of the world's population is at war. In 2002, 30 countries around the world were fighting in 37 armed conflicts -- a combined population of 2.29 billion people. In Congo, for example, a conflict often referred to as 'Africa's world war' claimed more than 3 million lives between 1998 and 2002 -- either as a direct result of fighting or through disease and malnutrition.
The world's oil reserves could be exhausted by 2040. Oil's biggest role is power generation. Most electricity in the developed world is generated using coal, natural gas or petroleum; but British government, for example, has said that by 2010, at least 10% of its energy needs to come from renewable sources like water, wind and sun. In the US, automative fuels account for more than half of US oil consumption; in 1999, Americans drove a whopping 2.6 trillion miles -- enough for 14,000 round trips to the Sun.
Eighty-two percent of the world's smokers live in developing countries. Every year, nearly 5 million people die as a result of smoking. It is the number one preventable cause of death in the world. 500 million people alive today will die of tobacco-related diseases. In 1955, 56% of US men smoked; today it's 25%. Before import of tobacco-based products in 1996, 26% of Taiwanese had tried smoking; now, it's 48% and quickly rising. WHO reports that tabacco advertising in Cambodia rose 400% during 4 years of the 1990s; in Malayasia, 20-25% of all advertising is now tabacco related. Women and young people in developing countries are the current targets for tobacco companies.
More than 70 per cent of the world's population have never a dial tone. Researchers estimate that 800 megabytes of information is produced every year for every person on the planet; the average American spends 46% of their time in accessing that information; in 2001, more than half of the US population used the Internet and over 600 million users worldwide had access. In Africa, though, less than 1% of the 800 million even had a computer, 1 in 4 people own a radio and 1 in 40 have a telephone. Finland, with a population of 5 million, has more Internet users than the whole of Latin America. In the US, 86% of families earning over $75,000 per year has Internet access, whereas just 12% of households earning less than $15,000 per year had access. On the flip side, within just five years, 60% of South Korean households have broadband Internet.
A quarter of the world's armed conflicts of recent years have involved a struggle for natural resources. More than 5 million died as a result of these conflicts in the 1990s. Congo had deposits of gold, diamonds and mineral ore named coltan (used in mobile phones and computers). President of the rebel group in Rwanda: "We need to maintain the soldeiers. We need to pay for services ... we raise $200,000 per month from diamonds. Coltan gives us more: a million dollars a month." In Colombia, fights are over the annual $400 million annual cocaine trades. In developing countries, 90% of fresh water is consumed by agriculture and many predict that water will be a source of much tension in the future.
Some 30 million people in Africa are HIV-positive. By 2050, the disease may have claimed 280 million lives. Life expectancy in some sub-saharan countries is currently 30! China refused to acknowledge it's AIDS problem till 2002; till then, 30,000 was the number of those living with HIV in China but after that, it jumped to 1 million. Of the $70 billion is spent each year in researching new drugs, less than 10% is spent on finding soutions for 90% of the world's health problems. [ more ]
Ten languages die out every year. There are about 6000 living languages in the world. Professor Steve Sutherland of University of East Anglia calculated that the past 500 years have seen 4.5% of languages die out, compared with 1.3% of birds, and 1.9% of mammals. [ more ]
More people die each year from suicide than in all world's amred conflicts. WHO estimates that about a million people die each year from suicides; two thirds of them are depressed at the time of their deaths. A survey in Aids-stricken region of Uganda showed 21% of residents as clinically depressed, while another survey of a Pakistani village showed 44%. Women are more likely to attempt suicide, but men are more than four times as likely to die. By 2020, WHO predicts that depression will be the second largest contributor to the global burden of disease. [ more ]
Every week, an average of 88 children are expelled from American schools for bringing a gun to class. Nearly one in three American households with children have a gun in them. In a study of 37 school shooting incidents between 1974 and 2000, two thirds of the students involved had taken their guns from their own home or that of a relative. Death rate from guns in the US is by far the highest in the developed world. Of the 639 million small arms worldwide, nearly 200 million are in the homes of Americans.
There are at least 300,000 prisoners of conscience in the world. These are folks who have peacefully expressed their own beliefs and not broken the law in any way.
Two million girls and women are subjected to female genital mutilation each year. Barbaric practice of cutting genitals of girls and women has to be stopped, but the complexity of the problem and secrecy surrounding it call for a very careful approach. Surveys indicate the prevalance of FGM -- most commonly found in Africa -- fell from 95% in 1995 to 89% in 2002.
There are 300,000 child soldiers fighting conflicts around the world. Children under 18 are fighting in almost regions of the world, in close to 33 countries. Burma is believed to have more child soldiers than any other country with more than one fifth of its 350,000 national army listed under 18 years of age. [ more ]
Nearly 26 million people voted in 2001 British General Election. More than 32 million votes were cast in the first season of Pop Idol. In 1950, 84% of Britons turned out to vote; in 2001, 60%. Worldwide, younger people are not voting. Most youngsters feel that "voting is not going to change a thing" as politicians keep on playing their games. In 2003, German government debated a proposal to allow parents to vote on behalf of their 12 years and older children to vote. The use of mobile phone and Internet are also being used to make it easy to vote; in Democratic primaries in Arizona, turned jumped 600% when the Internet voting system was introduced. [ more ]
America spends $10 billion on pornography every year -- the same amount is spends on foreign aid. More than 200 new adult films are produced every week, and there are over 300,000 Internet sites on the topic. 1.5 million US hotel rooms can show adult movies, which accounts for around 80% of hotels' in-room entertainment profits. In 2003, the US spent $396 billion on its military. This is 33 times the combined military spending of the seven 'rogue states'. In 2002, the world military budget was $794 billion. America's military expenditure is more than 33 times the combined budgets of Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria. In 1985, at the height of the Cold War, the world spent $1.2 trillion; the 90s saw a decline, but post 9/11, the trend has reversed; the US administration plans to spend $2.7 trillion on the military over the next six years. It would cost $15 billion a year to provide basic primary healthcare to all the world's people, about $2 billion to fund famine relief and sustainable agriculture programs and about $5 billion to provide a basic education for all. There are 27 million slaves in the world today. Bonded labor is now the most common form of slavery, affecting some 20 million people around the world. Anti-slavery groups estimate that slaves exist in every continent except Antarctica, producing goods that we in the Western World use everyday. Average slave in the American South cost $40,000 in today's money; today, a slave costs an average of just $90. [ more ]
Americans discard 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour. That's enough bottles to reach all the way to the moon every three weeks. Every hour, British households throw away enough rubbish to fill the Royal Albert Hall. Each year, America produces enough plastic wrap to cling-film the state of Texas. Each Christmas, an additional 5 million tons of rubbish is generated -- 4 million of that is wrapping paper and shopping bags. China produces and discards more than 45 billion pairs of disposable chopsticks every year and cuts down 25 million trees to do it. In Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, more than 10 million plastic bags are dumped every day, clogging the city's drains. It is now said that there are two man made structures that can be seen from outer-space: the Great Wall of China, and the Fresh Kills landfill near New York. A landfill closes in the US everyday, and experts say that the country has 18 years of landfill capacity left. By 2005, 250 million computers will be obsolete and 130 million mobile phones will be discarded every year. [ more ]
The average urban Briton is caught on camera upto 300 times a day. Nearly 3 million closed circuit TV's are monitoring the UK, sending images to flickering screens. With an estimated 2.5 million Britons now captured on the national DNA database and the British government's decision to press ahead with iris recognition schemes, it is possible that we may never be anonymous.
Some 120,000 women and girls are trafficked into Western Europe every year.
A kiwi fruit flown from New Zealand to Britain emits five times its own weight in greenhouse gases. To get us off season fruits, our food is travelling a long ways. Those kiwi fruits, for example, have travelled 20,000 kilometers, either by plane or road. Increasingly, we're becoming more and more dependent on the fuel it takes to get them to us. In the UK, 40% of all road freight is food. For every calorie of lettuce imported to the UK from America, 127 calories of fuel are used; in other words, a kilogram of California lettuce uses enough energy to keep a 100-watt light bulb glowing for eight days.

Children living in poverty are three times more likely to suffer a mental illness than children from wealthy families. Nearly 4 million British children -- one in every three -- live in poverty. That's three times below the poverty line in 1970.

Terminal 3 is Open today, and thanks to Ng Shee Shoon, I got a reason to be here. Wow. Very nice, lots of shopping space. It looks very stylish too. There is also recycling bins placed beside every bin. I think this reflects very well on Singapore being a Garden City.

First Post for Year 2008 I want to first write down my experience at Countdown 2007/2008 at Esplanade follow by My New Year Resolution to Kickstart the Year Meaningfully. Great FIREWORKS. Attaching 2 Video for viewing.

Haha. However, difficult to get there can. Have to squeeze in the crowd. Walk in Stuffy Shopping Centre. Finally, after the countdown, squeeze even more. 2 hours just to get from Padang to City Hall can! Something to comment, residents in Raffles City Shopping Centre throw toilet roll down can. Even though look very good but it is a waste of resource and littering k. Another irritating thing is Sprays again. Like Christmas can. Spray on New Year. sian. I hate spray. Some people just do not understand that others prefer celebrating without the sprays. I am one of them. Stopped at Starbucks Coffee at about 1.30pm to avoid the crowd. Had a Mango Passion fruit blended drink. Okay only. I think I still like to drink my Hot Chocolate. Haha. Reached home at about 2.30am and went to sleep. Mum Birthday on 1 Jan 2007, she was up at 2am, so had to ask her to sleep. She has not been feeling well. Hope she gets better. NEW YEAR RESOLUTION One Teacher introduced this to me when I was younger. Then, it became the meaning to celebrating New Year. Because with a New Year, it means I can have New Resolutions. This year, my resolutions are as follows:

To be Financially Stable (Save More Use Less)
To Graduate from Singapore Polytechnic
To Convert more people to Green People
To Do more for the Community
To Perform in my Career with with RSAF
To Complete Driving Theory

Christmas 2007

Merry Christmas! Wonder how everyone else is celebrating their Christmas. For me, celebration starts from yesterday, when I went to Orchard to do the countdown.

Christmas Eve started with a Haircut at Kimage Academy at Funan IT Mall. The service was good. Have a nice haircut from a Module 5 student. You may thing, hmm... student cannot do a good job, very unsafe. However, at Kimage Academy, the instructors ensures a good cut at the end. Best bargain is that you are only paying close to $6 for a good cut plus wash and blow. Nice? Go for a haircut there in the future ba. Best thing, you can call to make an appointment. Cool right? Check my hair!

Also on Christmas, I received my First Christmas Present of the Year. It is a nice cup from Aunt Gina. Haha. Looking at it guess what came to my mine? Haha. Rachel! My club Treasurer, a fantastic fan of Winnie the Pooh. She very nicely bought the committee very sweet looking folders. I love my design. Haha. Of the many designs, I actually happen to choose the same design Rachel is using can. Haha.

At night, celebrated the Christmas with Countdown at Orchard. As an environmentalist, I cannot take it but take the following pictures down. On your right, a Clean dustbin, but on the left you find all the spray cans on the floor. Why is this so? I was also shocked to see the number of spray cans sold, and played. Have you ever wondered how bad that is to the environment? Also the content from the spray, not good for the health. I do not understand why can't they celebrate Christmas in a civilised manner and enjoy Christmas in a more peaceful way.

Then is the crowd!!! Look carefully in the picture. I was lucky to be a step higher to see this happening and not be part of it. Just infront of Takashimaya, left tower of Ngee Ann City, the narrow foot path is filled with people moving in opposite direction. This causes unhappiness and they started pushing against each other. in the process, barricades fall, causing many to be injured. But the people behind, being ignorant about what is happening in front continues to push. Causing a guy to be heavily bleeding. Others having a great fall. Also shocking to see was a group of youngster hitting some overseas worker along the way. Poor workers, come to Singapore just to earn a few cents yet treated this way. Not a peaceful Christmas Night.

Wheelchair Amazing Race

Wheelchair Amazing Race took place at Sentosa on a bright Sunday morning. Organised by South-West CDC, I think it is an event very meaningful, very memorable for many of the participants. Setting off at Sentosa Beach Station, we are teamed with wheelchair bound members and together we went through many games. Places we have went to include, Siloso Beach, Palawan Beach, Merlion and many other fun places. Most unique of all, it is done with my team mates. I remember the times, when we need to find the right way to get around. It is for the first time, that I realised how important handicapped facilities are. That we should always give way. For example, lifts at stations are built for wheelchair bound, using them would cause them to wait longer. Ya. It was all lots of fun! They have also arranged for movies at Vivocity Golden Village. Great idea, but then we discover a flaw. As much as Vivocity is handicap friendly, GV at Vivo doesn't seems as friendly. As a result, one of my team mate is forced to take another show. Other then this limitation, everything went well. We were also able to achieve as much fun as other events if not more fun because these new friends of mine, gave me an experience like never before. This is gonna be an unforgetable trip in Sentosa. Thanks Guys, and yes, we won the Spirit De Corp (Spell correctly?) for our ALWAYS HIGH SPIRIT!!! THANKS TO ENTHUSIATIC TEAMMATES!!! Today is 冬至

冬至, I woke up late today and missed making Glutinous Rice Ball with Grandma. Feels weird saying the English name. It would be Tang Yuan okay. Haha. Was very tired, slept right after dinner yesterday because I didn't slept the night before. Miss those times making Tang Yuan earl in the morning. here is a bowl to share with you.

Though tired, I loved being out with the committee yesterday. Having Christmas Cheers in the afternoon and gossiping in the evening. It is enjoyable. I think the only good memories I would bring out of Polytechnic is from Environment Club. It is also where, I have true friends. Sad to know that I would be leaving soon. But certainly, I would be coming back to help out whenever I can. Hope then I would be welcomed by the new committee. The new committee, seems immature, hope they will all grow and rise to the occasion just like mine. Seeing my committee grow to become strong and the club progressing from strength to strength. I feel proud saying I am from Singapore Polytechnic Environment Club, because of one thing. Because I know, there is a group of people behind me, who think the same way as me, and work towards the same goal. I hope the Committee of 07/08 would continue to hold on to the belief. That even if they do not continue to be in the Committee of 08/09, they would continue to advice those around them to be environmentally friendly and would live a environmentally friendly lifestyle. Certainly, I have confidence that they have potential and should be further developed to become the leaders in the society. I wish them all the best. Hope they like the Profile Test they did and that it will be able to help them better understand themselves. Help me too k, see previous and help me see if I am getting the right Daemon!

Attaching a short write up on the club. Wanted to use it for the speech during Annual General Meeting, but I believe,by then I can write a better one.

This year has been an eventful year for Singapore Polytechnic Environment Club. With a new emphasis on animal protection and a consistent effort in promoting the 3Rs, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, the club fulfilled its various missions through introduction of new activities and improving on previous ones.

Singapore Polytechnic reached out to over 2000 students in its many campus-wide activities. These includes the Earth Day Exhibition which saw sales of orchids to encourage growing of plants in the office, World Animal Day when a total of close to $600 is raised for funding of animal protection groups and at Poly 50 when students are encouraged to recycle plastics bottles used during the race. These events not only raise the awareness within the school population on the importance of being environmentally friendly, but also, provide them with an opportunity to participate and contribute their part for the environment.

The year has also seen an increase in the club’s membership size with over 100 volunteers actively participating in its activities and another 200 members on its mailing list. This is a good indication that the student population is interested in environment issues and wishes to take action to support Environmental Activities. This is in line with the club’s objective to instil appreciation for the environment in the students and staff of Singapore Polytechnic. The club continues to empower its members to be involved in organization of activities. Some more than 10 Year 1s has already had experience in organizing large scale activities like, Think before you Throw (A NDP Initiative) and ‘Be Green’ Campaign. Others have the opportunity to attend forums and dialogues which gave them the opportunities to meet the experts in the area, helping them to better understand the issues and policies related to the environment.

With the objective to contribute beyond the school and be a Green Ambassador for the school, the club worked with 2 major Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) namely, the Environmental Challenge Organization(Singapore) and Waterways Watch Society. The cooperation allows our members to experience interaction with bigger organizations and have interaction with the public. This promotes the reputation of Singapore Polytechnic as a vibrant Institution and contributing to the society.

The Singapore Polytechnic Environment Club believes that education should start from young and have since work with the SP BP Mentoring Club on a Recycling Outreach Program where their mentees are taught of the importance of recycling and be asked to spread the message to the neighbourhood. These children also had the chance to collect recyclables which total up to 1079.6 kg of Paper and 152.4 kg of Clothing, raising a significant sum for Community Chest.

Also, a update to a blog not posted on 16 December 2007, an ANGEL I spotted at Bugis Junction. Haha. Cute? She is tall and Beautiful lo.

Fan Wei Qi Campus Concert

C oncert by Fan Wei Qi in Singapore Polytechnic! Haha. First time seeing her in person lo. Okay la. Her voice not bad, the songs also quite nice. Only complain is that the music is too loud. Harmful to the ear lo. Especially to EEE students when the ear is a very important working tool.

The day has been very unproductive. Other then the concert, I only brought 2 NTU Student for a campus so that they are familiar with the areas suitable for a possible cooperation on a Reduce Plastic project in School. Hope it all works out well.

The concert is quite all right. More or less what I expected. Except for a very special girl who seems to be a very hard core fan of Fan Wei Qi, because she raised her hands to sing for her poster, then run up the stage when the host ask for volunteer for a game. In both instance, you can see that she seem to have lost control of her feelings. Her enthusiasm cause a commotion and invited the eyes of many. For me, this is extra entertainment.

Have to stay up again. Overnight and not sleeping. The list of things to be completed:

However, the more I sleeps, the more these works piles up, causing me to have more things to do lo. I have to pull up my socks. Work hard on my academics.

HSBC's Efforts in Climate Change

Climate Change has become an issue, and the raising concern in many communities. SPH has held a Media Club camp. This 3 days non-residential camp brought together many journalist-to-be together to look at the issue on climate change.

I am lucky to be able to represent HSBC as a Youth Volunteer from the HSBC/NYAA EarthWatch Trip 2007. I feel honoured to be able to represent the World's First Bank to go Carbon Neutral. HSBC is committed to rectifying and support moves to curb climate change. Locally, they will be funding $300,000 to NParks Board for Forest Survey in Singapore. In yesterday's event, see the first $100,000 being donated and subsequent $100,000/year in the next 2 years. Their commitment is also being seen in many other countries where HSBC is located. In these areas, different efforts is in place to help the world better understand the effects of climate change, the ways to mitigate climate change. Their efforts is certainly worth commenting.

Personally, I contribute to this project as a volunteer who will be helping in the research work along in hand with many researchers. Yesterday, I assisted by being a guide to the many students from the various schools. Being a newbie in the area, I do not think I contributed much. However, with the guidance of Casey, my partner from HSBC and our NPark Personnel, I hope soon, I would become like them. And be able to share my expertise to many other youth.

We were also lucky as NParks receives many wild snakes caught and needed to be returned to the reserve. These includes a Whip Snake, Paradise Tree Snake, 2 Python and a Cat Snake. I love Paradise Tree Snake most. This is a very colourful snake that glides from tree to tree. The python is the larger snake around there and most interesting and rare to see is the cat snake which is black with yellow strips. This highly poisonous snake is of course, not being handled by anyone of us. But by the staff which didn't handle it by hand, and was very careful with it. The student too, enjoyed interaction with the snakes. I enjoy my work with HSBC, hope I can continue to learn and be able to contribute back to HSBC.

Following are my personal handling of the Paradise Tree Snake, nice colourful body, this is a Tree snake. Meaning it prefers climbing on trees and catches prey on the trees. This is unlike Python which kills on the ground. Also one more information is that the Paradise Tree Snake is active in the Day while Python are active in the night. I love the Paradise Tree Snake, but it is Mildly Poisonous. Haha. But love for it overcome my fear. Thankfully, it didn't bit me too. Haha.

Experience at Ang Mo Kio Hub

Ang Mo Kio Hub. Looking very new and bug from the outside. Has a direct link to the MRT through a underpass meaning you can access it on rainy days without having to walk in the rain. Integrated with the Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange means it is the third bus interchange that is fully air conditioned. However, other then the many shops that you can find, my experience with the mall hasn't left me very good impression.

I happen to be at Ang Mo Kio Hub because I wish to know what the new mall has to offer. Stepping into the mall, there seems to be very nice shops and great interior design. Then I met a old uncle who has difficulty reading and seeing things. Surprisingly, he approached me for help speaking in English. He wishes to get to the ticket office to top up his ez-link card. I hence wish to bring him to the place but was unsure. Just then a security guard walked passed and I stop him to approach him for help. But he wasn't very helpful, other then pointing us the direction, I thought he could help bring us there but he didn't. It is not like he is busy, isn't it much better to bring the person to the place then having him get loss again? Why hasn't the servicing standard in Singapore rise yet. Next is the toilet. Very toilet and has a few urinal spoilt. surprising for a new shopping centre.

Walking out of the shopping centre to head to Mediacorp Publishing, I walk to the bus stop opposite and found this:

Interestingly, they have already installed the Bus Arrival system. Certainly helpful. Sometime waiting for the bus can be very contradict. Taking the correct bus, I reach the right place.

Wow, look at that mountain of magazine. However, it was worth it, firstly because I have not went to a place like it before. And I manage to buy 2 issues home le. Very nice to have experience this before. Very interesting. Even though it rained heavily when I am leaving the place, however, the thought of having purchased what I really want, feels me with happiness and soon the rain just complements my happiness. Perhaps next time if there is a issue that you missed and would like to purchase, you may contact me and I will guide you on the way to get that issue in your hand.

School Holidays for many. Mine is in a WEEK! Haha. Hmm.... I wish to let everyone know of this Popular Book Fair. For one reason, eveyone know what I do during holidays. For one, it would be more CCA and external activities, then it would be reading. also for those who know me, I do not read story books or fictions. I like informative or self-improvement books. Effective of not.... Not sure. To some, I have change for the better. For others, I may have become worse. The answer, I do not know. But one thing for sure, I wish to become better. To do that I need feedback. Sometimes reality can be harsh, but it is through this condition that I grow. Wish the storm that has been surrounding me since about half a year ago, will be gone one day. I do not know how much more I can hold...

Wedding in Waterways Watch Society and Water without Gravity!

Have been helping out at Waterways Watch Society on weekends. As usual, yesterday I helped out too. Instead of going onto Bicycle or Boat Patrol, I helped out in the office in packing up of the store. There I labelled and rearranged the logistics, assisting my other fellow member. Afternoon, we visit the wedding of our members! Yes, a couple who both is in Waterways Watch Society. Very Nice wedding setting. There is many other visitor too. With nice food. Fantastic experience. It seem so long since I last attended a malay wedding.

Also, I came to know that they are supposed to change their dressing a number of times. Why does couples always have to suffer so much in all weddings? Haha. The only motivating factor to bear with it is perhaps the love they have for each other ba. Seeing couples getting married, every marriage, a story behind it. Wish all who are in a relationship, happiness always and may one day get married ba. Remember to ask me along ya! I mean ask me to attend the wedding. Haha.

Following that, Eugene was kind enough, always very nice, to drive us home. Alight at Potong Pasir MRT Station, I decided to follow Mummy (Sharon) to Kovan. There I saw the MAN side of her. With her 'boys' there, though below 16 yet already black belt la! But because of their small age, they only wear a half red half black belt and not the full black belt. Then I went to Bugis Junction and saw this very nice fountain. It is water going upstream. from below up! Yes, with the coloured lighting, it looks fantastic!

Realising that doing my own web page for a blog is quite a hassle. Doesn't make sense with all the extra efforts it is bringing me away from doing the blogging itself. Perhaps better to return to using blogger. Everything is easier. Especially using Windows Live Writer. No idea why it is much better then using the Microsoft Words which has templates for Blog Post. It's weakness is that it does not download your blog template, and you cannot preview or save draft locally. Important as many would know I do not have Internet access at home. Being able to save my blog post means I can always write and upload some other time.

Sorry then to all my readers, please revert back to Blogger to read my post. Anyway, after so long, wonder how many readers are still reading my post. If you are, comment ya!

Making $ense of Climate Change

A PAYM event by YECs (Youth Executive Committee) in Jalan Besar GRC .

Attended the event above today. Held at NEWater Visitor Centre, we were arranged to be fetched from Tanah Merah Interchange. There travelled to Bedok NEWater Plant.

At first glance, the visitor centre looks a little like the Science Centre.

Very refreshing feeling because the plant is located in a remote area. However, given that the previous dialogue with Assoc Prof. Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources was at Gardenasia, Kranji, it makes me wonder, the amount of Carbon Emission from these dialogue and why it is not possible having such forums/dialogues in Environment Building or a Central area to make it more accessible and reduce travelling.

However, given that we are in NEWater Plant, we were given a guided tour. Very comprehensive indeed. It is interactive, and certainly, it is a pleasurable trip. Just like when I was young going to Science Centre. However, the place utilises alot of electricity. One good example, at our first stop, a video entitled, "Water Everyday" not sure of the title, but it is the first video, we sat in air-conditioned auditorium which is cooled down very much, but only for us to watch the video which is 7 mins appox, long.

Interesting part of the journey is the explanation on the process involved in NEWater plant. We were shown the ultra filtration process and the reverse osmosis process. On the left is the membrane which is about 0.01 micron(I think) This allows for only the H2O molecule to pass through and anything bigger then that, be it larger molecules, or virus, or bacteria, they will all be filtered out.

In Singapore, we go the extra step by including a UV sterilisation to further ensure safety. The water is then restored from the slightly acidic pH by addition of Sodium Hydroxide before use. Even the use, is mostly for Industrial and not drinking. Only a portion of it 1% is added to our reservoirs as IPU, Indirect Portable Use, which aims to get our people used to drinking NEWater.

After the walk is a Policy Forum organised by PAYM of Jalan Besar GRC's 9 YECs. Got to know a few new friends. Didn't really learn a lot from the forum as it wasn't very technical and YECs personnel doesn't seem to understand the policies and problems surrounding environment. It seems that more needs to be done to engaged them. These future leaders of Singapore, must be made aware of the importance of the Environment.

Then I visited the John Little Sale @ Expo

Haha. Since I am a stop away from Expo, decided to go visit the place. There is John Little Sale. Decided to just have a walk around and maybe just walk around for a little window shopping.

Found this very comfy pillow. This pillow uses micro gels. Interesting? How I wish to get one home, and get better sleep. Getting so tired of Life.

Saw many other interesting product, like a cloth that absorbs oil and dust but can be easily cleaned putting it under running water. Then is a broom like thing, that has 2 rotary wheels like those road vacuum vehicle. Not using power, it uses the movement to sweep dust and any other object, (they used light to simulate glass) into a inner pocket that can be easily cleared.

Then is CHRISTMAS TREES! Haha. seeing so many Christmas Trees surely makes me feel the warmth of Christmas. Hope this year, Christmas would be a peaceful and happy one.

Then I went to Changi Airport. I mean, think about it, after working so much, after so much that has happened, shouldn't this be a good opportunity to loosen a bit? Went to Changi Airport and saw many interesting thing. One goodexample is a group of Indians, buying lots of Sony Bravia home. Wondering why it is still a trend. Remember someone told me that it is a trend that due to low prices, many came to Singapore to buy TV back to India. However, after so many years is it still the same? Because if it is yes, then wouldn't it become a lucrative business to export the TV there?

Then I had Popeyes meal. Very nice. The mash potato. then the Chicken. Hope they set up more outlets. Then do not have to travel so far to have it.

What a long day... But I enjoyed it. How I hope Life can be happy like this everyday.

Happiness is Being Contented

Breaking off from my previous post, as I wish to specially write this post for all those reading my blog.

Realised that Happiness is simply about being Contented with what you have. Many would have worked all their life for the money, for that car, for the many things that they thought would bring them money. As for me, I realised that I have already own many things that others don't.

Personally, I have come to realise the way to happiness, is much simpler, much easier then I thought. Now, even a smile from those I care for is enough to feel me with happiness. It is a form of satisfaction that I have not felt before. Perhaps, I am starting to grow tired of a busy lifestyle. Now is a time for a short break, before I break. Slowing down life, it seems like I have missed so many things in the past. Just like yesterday, went to watch a movie, 'Artic Tales', simple life of the Polar bears, only about feeding yourself, having fun, resting and reproducing. Such life, used to belong to Human Race too. However, taken over by development is what may have been a degradation.

For those reading, I wish to mention just one last thing. Comparison. Many a time, we like to compare with others. Yes, it may help to spur you on. But it is also this form of motivation that cause you to feel stressful, cause you to not be contented, cause you to lose your smile. If that happens to you, then you should not be comparing. Work your Best, Prove your Worth and Love what you did. It is all about the process of working there, the results is insignificant as it would only play small parts in your life. A bit of calculation, the time taken in the starting, the process, is always longer then the happiness from the results. Therefore, isn't it wise to enjoy the process?

One last thing, about smile. The Most Valuable Smile.

Just smile whether you are happy or not for you do not know who is admiring your smile. Enjoy smiling because those around would do so too. Next to you are those who enjoy seeing you smile, and would certainly be more then willing to try making you smie. Nice words with a smile will certainly make others' day. Entertain those around you so they can smile like you. Regularly smiling and making others smile makes you a healthier and happier person.

Hope to see you smile everyday. If you have lost your smile remember to come to me. I will always be here...

Drawing others to Me

I always felt that my Life is but short, what I can do is but limited, but if my Life is able to light up the Lives of others, perhaps I would have touched many other Lives and created a impact, I would not be able to achieve alone.

Reading the book "Be a People Person" by John C. Maxwell, there was mentions of CHAIRSMA used to draw others to me. I find it very useful and wish it would be the same to you. More importantly, if it did trigger some thoughts in your mind, please do not hesitate to drop your comments. Concern is about the ability to show you care. This is about making those around you feel that you have their interest at heart. It makes them feel important. Think about how much more effort you put into studying that subject for a teacher who was concern with your well being compared to those who didn't bother about your results? That is the power of concern.

Help is about the ability to reach out. It is about helping others to succeed. It is just like what I wish to do for others what others have did to me before. Someone shared with me the importants of CHARISMA, about personal development, and generally, I realised that not many people has the opportunity to be exposed the same way, therfore I share what I learn. It can also be using your strength to make others stronger. You may sometimes think that this is being taken advantages off, but if you do get taken advantage of by one, is the many around you blind? They would appreciate you for what you have done.

Leaders of Tomorrow Camp

LTC has been fun so far. The five practices of Leaders namely 1) Model the Way 2) Inspire a Shared Vision 3) 4) Enable others to Act 5) Encourage the Heart, has been seen to be very useful. However, the most important thing is a bit more about self-discovery.

For a very long time, I have been discovering myself, trying to understand who I am, what I want, why I want. Lots of question about myself. Since graduation from Primary school, I came to realise alot about others. Someone who used to be all about himself. Strict with one self, his peers and everything that surrounds him, starts to loosen up to choose to portray himself to be someone else.

Primary School, a model student in the eyes of teachers. Good son, who returns home immediately after school. But known to be the strictest prefect, deterence to the most problematic classes and student. My strictness with myself becomes my strictness with other. This is not without sacrifice. Who enjoys staying around with a cold blooded person. Who do things only the right way, not considering feelings of others. Do not consider others opinions. Even though it may be true that the decisions were usually right. This is never a leadership model recommended to adopt.

Secondary School, with a change in outlook, a 360 twist of personality, I suddenly becomes open to all options. Let loose, allow inflow of ideas, took up habits or do things I never thought I would ever have done. Seems great... Knew friends,got nominated to be the Executive of the NPCC Unit. Well liked by everyone, starts to socialise alot more. From introvert to extrovert. First oraltorical contest, though failed badly... Drive me to work toward wanting to become the best speaker. Started finding out more about how others are able to speak confidently on stage. Perhaps power corrupts the mind. After taking over the unit. There was a slight twist to my destiny. I saw what people can do to gain power,betrayals, fake personalities. Got tired of them but realised that in order to survive, I am expected to do the same. In the end, as I didn't really knew more about how to go about with such dirty tricks, I was still doing my best and seeking recognition.

However, after 'O' levels life start to change. From a book given from a friend as a birthday present, I started a journey of self discovery, human psychology discovery. I started to be able to relate with people again. This time much better then Before. Through this lead the team to success. This cause me to be introduced to books related to personal development, body languages, organisational behaviour. Good or bad, this is the base of who I am now. Though they equipped me with the ability to understand others better, but they also change me to become better at "manipulating" others. I am able to motivate others to do things they do not wish to. However, all this, I tries to ensure that I do not harm them in the process. More importantly, to be able to help them through these things that they do.

It is however, a problem to myself. I am so many person, had so many personalities in front of everyone. That sometimes, I start to ask myself who I am, is what I am doing right, is it right to decide what is right for others and make them go your way thinking you are helping them, am I really helping them, or am I using them for personal goals...

The Mind is Stronger then the Body

Do you know that the Human Body is not made to run a marathon?

Have you wondered why some others are able to accomplished things you never thought was possible, like reaching the submit of the tallest mountains, walking long distances in extreme harsh weather and swimming the coldest channel?

It is all in the Mind. The human body is limited by strength and flexibility. A good example would to compare the strength of an elephant and us, we are no match if challenged unarmed. This is however not true with the brain which is able to accomplish anything it believe in. It is the brain that complments our body to give it the extra strength, make it work better, make tools to help the body overcome it's weakness and limitations.

It is hence important that we Believe in what we wish to accomplished. This is simple because, "If you think you can, you can". The battle is first fought in the mind. Many failed to try because they fail to think they can. If you think you cannot, your body will not co-operate with you.

You got to believe you can because if you don't think you can, you will fail to try. If you do try, it is often a half hearted attempt. The mind is then confused and unable to give its best.

However, by believeing, your mind searches for avenues of possibilities. Think of the times when you are overwhelmed by an obstacle, your mind goes into an overdrive and you found a suitable solution.

Life is often too tough to those who are negative, but very challenging to the positive.

Believe in what you are set to do today.

With a New Blog, what I really hope is a Fresh Start, a New Beginning, a Clean Break. The old blog ended yesterday. This blog is Brand New. The old blog will still be made available for me to return and see some of the things of my past. Despite the fact that I do not wish to be reminded of the past, I think, a person without his past will not be complete. I am who I am today because of the things I have gone through. These experiences mould me to become who I am today. That hopefully will make me a better person, to better serve the people.

Since it is about serving others, this blog will be concentrating on Motivations, Leadership, Relationship and on discussing of issues that concerns you and me. This would be done with your participation which hopefully would make this blog more interactive, and more productive. Please feel free to comment on the posts. Writing on the tag board is alright but that will only be readerable for a short period of time. My wish is that you can share your views on the blog post itself. Earthwatch Study Trip 2007

It has become a fact that climate change is happening, but what are its effects? How will our environment change? Are we the only ones affected? My trip to Atherton Tablelands (Northern Queensland, Australia) answered these questions and more.

Climate models predict that the temperature in Queensland will rise by about 3.5oC in the next century. As temperatures warm, the animals living in islands with the cooler mountaintop habitats will be forced even further uphill until they run out of grazing space. This loss of habitat can possibly result in a 50 percent extinction rate.

The Earthwatch Study Trip is a unique opportunity for me to visit some of the region’s most magnificent rainforests and see a diverse array of forest animals from leaf-tailed geckos to possums.

Working with a team of PhD students from James Cook University, I sampled the abundance of birds, reptiles, mammals, frogs, plants and insects at 200 metres intervals up in the mountain tracks. Along the way, I set insect traps and sort their contents, trap small animals, hunt for lizards, comb tropical streams and forest transects for calling frogs, collect bird abundance data, and spot for nocturnal mammals and reptiles.

It was not easy as we camped out in the open for 2 weeks, sustained by water from nearby creeks. There was no electricity, no lighting, no showers available and to top it all off, it rained everyday – conditions an urban youth like myself could never imagine. I personally thought preparing dinner and having dinner with headlamps were unbelievable! In Singapore, even without the lights on, the reflections from street lamps, or the corridor lights were bright enough for you to see your way around. However, at our campsite, as early as 6pm everyday, you would not be able to see your own fingers.

These have taught me many lessons of how forest data is being recorded and analyzed. The data collected allowed us to understand how to better conserve the rainforest biodiversity in the face of enormous changes. Our forest is a fragile one, it is one that is easily affected by climate change because these trees takes hundreds of years to grow to their present heights. Also, some animals can take more then 50 years before they start reproducing. That all contributes to the reason why we should start acting on reducing our impact on climate change and think of ways we could contribute to conserving the environment.

The experiences from this trip have fueled my passion to spread awareness to other youths and engage them to contribute their part for the environment. In relation to this, the SP Environment Club has been actively organising awareness programmes, environmental events and supporting other external eco-organisations. My wish is for more youths to experience some of these very interesting projects organised and perhaps even initiate projects that could be beneficial to the student population. It is through taking these actions that we realise how much we could contribute to the environment.

Last but not least, I would like to thank HSBC and NYAA for their kind sponsorship to be part of this meaningful project. Their continual support in promoting environmental awareness amongst youths is commendable! It is of utmost importance in ensuring that the next generation is educated to make responsible decisions on how developments in Singapore should take place.

　　可是有一天﹐在一場車禍中﹐女孩不幸受了重傷﹐她靜靜地躺在醫院的病床上﹐幾天幾夜都沒有醒過來。白天﹐男孩就守在床前不停地呼喚毫無知覺的戀人﹔晚上﹐他就跑到小城的教堂裡向上帝禱告﹐他已經哭乾了眼淚。

　　一個月過去了﹐女孩仍然昏睡著﹐而男孩早已憔悴不堪了﹐但他仍苦苦地支撐著。終於有一天﹐上帝被這個痴情的男孩感動了。於是他決定給這個執著的男孩一個例外。上帝問他﹕“你願意用自己的生命作為交換嗎﹖”男孩毫不猶豫地回答﹕“我願意﹗”上帝說﹕“那好吧﹐我可以讓你的戀人很快醒過來﹐但你要答應化作三年的蜻蜓﹐你願意嗎﹖”男孩聽了﹐還是堅定地回答道﹕“我願意﹗”

　　天亮了﹐男孩已經變成了一隻漂亮的蜻蜓﹐他告別了上帝便匆匆地飛到了醫院。女孩真的醒了﹐而且她還在跟身旁的一位醫生交談著什麼﹐可惜他聽不到。

　　幾天後﹐女孩便康復出院了﹐但是她並不快樂。她四處打聽著男孩的下落﹐但沒有人知道男孩究竟去了哪裡。女孩整天不停地尋找著﹐然而早已化身成蜻蜓的男孩卻無時無刻不圍繞在她身邊﹐只是他不會呼喊﹐不會擁抱﹐他只能默默地承受著她的視而不見。夏天過去了﹐秋天的涼風吹落了樹葉﹐蜻蜓不得不離開這裡。於是他最後一次飛落在女孩的肩上。他想用自己的翅膀撫摸她的臉﹐用細小的嘴來親吻她的額頭﹐然而他弱小的身體還是不足以被她發現。

　　轉眼間﹐春天來了﹐蜻蜓迫不及待地飛回來尋找自己的戀人。然而﹐她那熟悉的身影旁站著一個高大而英俊的男人﹐那一剎那﹐蜻蜓幾乎快從半空中墜落下來。人們講起車禍後女孩病得多麼的嚴重﹐描述著那名男醫生有多麼的善良﹑可愛﹐還描述著他們的愛情有多麼的理所當然﹐當然也描述了女孩已經快樂如從前。

　　蜻蜓傷心極了﹐在接下來的幾天中﹐他常常會看到那個男人帶著自己的戀人在海邊看日出﹐晚上又在海邊看日落﹐而他自己除了偶爾能停落在她的肩上以外﹐什麼也做不了。
　　這一年的夏天特別長﹐蜻蜓每天痛苦地低飛著﹐他已經沒有勇氣接近自己昔日的戀人。她和那男人之間的喃喃細語﹐他和她快樂的笑聲﹐都令他窒息。

　　第三年的夏天﹐蜻蜓已不再常常去看望自己的戀人了。她的肩被男醫生輕擁著﹐臉被男醫生輕輕地吻著﹐根本沒有時間去留意一隻傷心的蜻蜓﹐更沒有心情去懷唸過去。

　　上帝約定的三年期限很快就要到了。就在最後一天﹐蜻蜓昔日的戀人跟那個男醫生舉行了婚禮。
　　蜻蜓悄悄地飛進教堂﹐落在上帝的肩膀上﹐他聽到下面的戀人對上帝發誓說﹕我願意﹗他看著那個男醫生把戒指戴到昔日戀人的手上﹐然後看著他們甜蜜地親吻著。蜻蜓流下了傷心的淚水。

　　上帝嘆息著﹕“你後悔了嗎﹖”蜻蜓擦乾了眼淚﹕“沒有﹗”上帝又帶著一絲愉悅說﹕“那麼﹐明天你就可以變回你自己了。”蜻蜓搖了搖頭﹕“就讓我做一輩子蜻蜓吧……”

有些緣份是註定要失去的。愛一個人不一定要擁有﹐但擁有一個人就一定要好好去愛他。你的肩上有蜻蜓嗎﹖

Poly 50 just ended yesterday. SP Environment Club have since grew stronger.

Yesterday, a total of 2 events occurred. Most important is Poly 50. A total of 50 rounds. Each about 800m. We members of SP Environment Club, a total of 10 of us including 3 girls finished the 10 runs.

Long distance running is a test of body and mind. What I like most about it is the mind. Many a times, many would wish to give up. In actual fact, there is people in my team who wish to give up. But the difference with running as a team is that members of the team motivates each other. It is this team spirit that keeps us going. In terms of physical, it is tough too. Separated into 3 checkpoints, the most difficult being the one from Checkpoint 2 - Checkpoint 3. I personally have to push myself all the way to reach finish it lo. Today, I am suffering body ache all over lo. Haha.

Have to plan time table again le. Today have had my test for Communication at Work. Tomorrow I will have retest for Aircraft Electronics Systems 1.

Suddenly felt that many of the readers are usually just listening to what I say about my events. What I really wish to know about is what my readers are doing about their life. Any interesting events out there that I miss out? Any interesting event that I can participate? Feel free to advertise on my blog oh. If the event is good I can even help you publicize. Since 3 July till now. That is 8 days le oh. Hasn't gotten any post that is one week apart. To show my appreciation to all my readers and my Environment Club member who helped out in EarthFest, this post is dedicated to all of you.

Hai... So unlucky these days. Stepped onto dog shit yesterday. Then thought at least I won a lucky draw and that should help wash away the unluckiness. But really things didn't go my way. I was walking about considering about my application for a new membership when a call came and have to have my lucky draw winning, a iPod Nano taken away from me. Bet it is not their fault. My experience with them have been good. I am just unlucky ba. There goes lo. Was thinking I could use the earphone since mine spoilt during the trip and I am not in the budget to get a new one. Then the Nano, had planned to purchase Nike+ a GPS module which when attached onto the iPod can be used to record running distance, speed and even help in planning of physical training. It is just all too bad that such unfortunate thing were to happen. I am sure the organiser didn't expect these to happen too.

13th day lo. Today will be a Great Day. i woke up early to have a warm shower, it felt so good I didn't want to leave till I realise I only have 15 mins to departure from campsite. Sadly, some people are not as considerate. They actually brush their teeth when we are going off.

Finally, I am recovered and is able to perform leaf litter. So I helped out with Scott. Good thing is this few days I could really see Ling Ling putting in lots of efforts into going into the rainforest. Hope I didn't push her too much. That she will understand why I am doing all this.

Called all the important people I need to call today. Didn't have much time to talk alot and it is costly to maintain long conversation too. So sorry....

My blog is diseasterous. hmm... Will be tidying up everything when I am back. Forced to close it for the time being. Sorry to all the other readers.

Dinner tonight is special. We were brought to this restraurant selling big burgers. See my picture. Haha. This is partly because we splited for 2 nights, so since they are back, this is the celebration. Chuan Hui and Lifa from our team is back too. So glad to see them too. They are often the one making the place much livelier and happier. And Great, Chuan Hui always make fun of me de lo. Accompanied by Wen Hua who tease sometime make me perform better. As for chuan hui... Haha. Seeing everyone so happy, no harm being laughed at too.

Going for birthwatching tml. Gonna sleep early tonight.

Day what? Sorry, had been ill for 2 days I think. Hai... Lying all they, felt like throwing up. It all happened after the diving session. Because of this I missed a couple of stuff. But the experience was great. I saw the corals, and even managed to touch a turtle. The Beauty of The Great Barrier Reef is I think only to be seen to believe.

Finally, I am all well and recovered today. So don't worry. And please, do not let my parents know anything about what I blog here. Both the good and the bad. I do not wish to worry them. So Sisters. Remember this ya. Hmm.... In fact, I must thank all the friends here who has been supporting me, my family and Singaporean Friends who appeared in my dream last night for my recovery.

The second campsite that I am in seems better. There is better facilities less PHONE! Have been waiting for a chance to call home. Hmm... Wonder how everyone is doing. Something else on my mind is my RETEST. Hopefully, one of those kind soul from my class can check for me.

Back to what I did today. We went to Daintree. You should do a search on google and find images about it. Ya. Just search using the search box up there. It is a very beautiful place. There, I did a lot of tough job though. Lots of climbing. As if that is not bad enough, Wen Hua challenged me to 200m when I return to the foot. That is more then twice the distance I took and majority in the woods. Thanks to her challenge though, I realised I could actually do it. Despite the fact I have just recovered. I think it is really in the mind. Just like the other time at the creek, when I just kept telling myself that it is very cold even when the rest are already in. It is only when I jumped in myself when I realise that it is not as cold as I imagin. I think it has been a long time since such thing happens on me. I have found a weakness in me. I am scared on COLD. Haha. Hope it is alright telling people my weakness. That will not expose me to any danger right?

Sixth day already, and it felt really great. Gonna be a week soon. Today is Scott's Birthday, turning 27. Haha. Morning was cool. I was thinking of sleeping later but it got all too late, got to wake myself up. But the good thing is I am always the first to wake up. Other then Uncle Tey who woke up early for Birth Watching, I am the earliest of the group. Now going Ant Collection Again.

Apparently, ant catching today is different. Found couple of ants. Different ones, big and small, red butt, orange ants and thanks to Ling Ling, who found me a couple of big ants. Siu Jiao came with us to take some footages. Hope they turn out good. Saw a log filled with fungi. Got couple of pictures.

Lunch was back in the camp. Ling Ling didn't felt quite good and started crying. Wen Hua talked about calling her crush and me about my mum. Then she touched on something that I didn't really like mentioning here. Kinda upset me. But I believe I should just get over it. Waiting for dinner. Tonight doing dinner preparation. Don't know what's on the menu. Gonna learn how to do it.

Oh we had this interesting dinner. It consist of a tortilla(I think that is how you spell it) with some paste, cheese, tomatoes, avocado paste and you wrap it up and eat it. Took 2 and a bit of the paste. Real full. Almost vomitting. Haha. Too greedy ya?

Tonight is real cold. Heavy rain and keep pouring. Really making it difficult to sleep. And I have to wake up at 4.30am tomorrow morning for bird-watching. Quite good, I have been waiting for it since the first day.

Fifth day lo, so fast haha. Woke up late today. Haha. Warm night, warm morning, good for sleeping. Too bad, have to wake up. So woke up late at 7am. Going for reptile catching today, so good to have good weather. Need to have sunny weather before reptiles comes out. On my way now to 200m and 100m.

Did a bit of reptiles, I found a lizard myself, Collin found one lizard and a frog. Species? Don't ask me k. I felt that being able to find a lizard or a snake is very tough. So guys, next time you are in rainforest, don't be afraid of meeting them because making an effort, we can't even find them. Next we did ant catching. Both is for the studies of reptiles and ants diversity in the different elevation. We are also looking at how climate change affects these plants.

On my way back for lunch. Sian... This few days eating all the western stuff. Lunch is gonna be sandwich again. Haha. But I didn't had lunch. Waited for dinner and had 2 servings of Curry and Rice. Forgotten to tell you that rice here taste like porridge. Very wet and soft. But better then lunch.

Went to do my second night of night spotting. Trust you have to go with the right guy. With steve, in my half sleeping condition we saw lots of things. But with Collin, tasked to also take care of Rama, I couldn't see much except, a couple of lizards who aren't even as nice as those I found in the afternoon.

I think I have not mention anything about mosquito bites of leech bites have I? Not that there isn't. Having leech bites is common and I have got about 6 identified ones so far. Anything more maybe in places I don't know like one was on my back but got it off before it bittten. My legs really stinks. So much that I myself couldn't stand it. They are wet and filled with mud. Wearing new pair of socks doesn't help too. Everything feels damp as over here humidity is at average 90% terrible right? I am looking forward to Day 7 when I can finally perhaps upload all this post and if possible some photographs online. Then also have some warm shower. Have my clothes sent to laundry and buy cheaper stuff. Off town everything cost double more.
Just did some real stuff in the toilet just now. Wanted to wait till there is proper toilet but that is next wednesday. How to wait. Now that I have them out, feels good and is ready to sleep. Good Night. Hope I can dream of you guys.

Fourth day. Last Night, I didn't sleep very well, was having toothache on one of my tooth at the back of my tooth. Has been having this pain once in a while, but I think it is about time I visit the doctor to check out if I need to have my wisdom teeth extracted. I don't like my tentage. Every morning, opening the tentage the first thing I saw is a puddle of mud and water. It just happens because the ground is uneven. Now being awake early, 0715 (+1000) I get an extra chance to follow Scott(a staff) to collect sample for CO2 emmission in the forest. Cool? Haha. Then going to have Nutrient Cycling later. Alright. Continue when I have the chance.

On my way to do Nutrient Cycling at 1000m. Kind of excited. 1000 m sound so normal to them, so unlike Singapore when Bukit Timah is only 164m. We had what was call quadrant if I am not wrong, and they show us an area of about 0.25m2, and we will just take the leaves out and put them in a pail, and have the volume measured. There we have more and more we have the leaf litter on the ground with some decomposed. Minus this from those collected in the leaf litter collection nets(above) ground, we have the leaves that are decomposed. Clever? Haha.

We also put metal tubes into the ground to collect soil. In these soil, we will filter out the roots, each about 3mm thick, that we used for looking at the nutrients in the soil. Wow. All these work, got my hands all in soil, my pants in soil too. Really stinky. Our car, in the forest, got all covered too. Thanks to Chuan Hui, saw the horsetail fungi. Haha look like hair la. She also found a frog yesterday.

We went to the gas station. Haha. Sorry, maybe I should say Petrol Station. Very different from ours. Felt like a landed property with the petrol station combined. The toilets are big and if you want to, you could actually shower. The only thing that is bad, the food are expensive. The chips cos $3.95 and a small bag of gummies cost you another $3.

On our way back, we got the card stuck in the mud. Haha. Luckily, it didn't take us long to get it out. Travelling here is terrible. It takes an hour more each time. Finally back at the camp, all hungry without a chance for lunch and waiting for dinner. While waiting, went for a walk with a couple of friends, went quite far, walked about an hour and shared information of the different countries, I shared Singapore, our CPF, our environmental campaigns, our housing. Haha. Lots to share. Very nice chat.

Had Spagati, yesterday Western Laksa, before that some wet rice with mixed vegetable. Haha. Always looking forward for dinner. Food here very interesting. Lunch are usually sandwiches. Haha.

It is night time and think this is the last time I am continuing to write this post. Got really burn out, after the night spotting. Ya. Did alot today, looking forward to more tomorrow. Now feeling quite warm which is a good thing, but the rain outside is getting heavier and I hope the night wouldn't get too cold. The air here is very wet. Anything left in the open in contact with air gets wet, which is quite bad, because when my jacket gets wet, it is not as warm anymore.

I am starting to miss local food. I miss those rice and dishes that my mum cooks. Oh no, rain getting heavier and heavier. Gonna go to sleep before it gets real cold and I don't get to sleep. Hmm... After tomorrow 2 more days before we shift out. Hopefully then we get to upload these online. I hope you guys are eager and yet patience enough to read my blog. Don't go away because I am away. Wow! Second Day already. Woke up early in the morning, we went setting traps for sampling. Allocated to 200m. Rather warm compared to where we are staying 400m. Here in Misty Forest, it rains heavily but misty everyday. Oh... Yeah back to at 200m, the vegetation very close to that of Singapore, at 200m they are classified as Lowland Forest. We went in deep, to set up Insect Traps, 2 types: Malaise and FIT short for Flight Intercept Trap. They collect insects by making them fly then suffocate in Alcohol. So we bring them back to base camp to filter the insects out. We also measure the cicumfriums of the trees to see them growth. Other then these we check out the leave and seed traps, the plants, tasted some wild fruits, see real stinger and "wait-a-while" this post... Hoping when I manage to post it, I can put it with some pictures I took.

Went into the creek to bath... So.... Cold.... It was so cold and it was only after a while when I got alright with it, when into the waters, dip for some time, bear with the cold for a picture then out. Dry and change. Warm myself and blogging now. Waiting for dinner which will start preparation at 4pm, sian... Lunch was sandwiches made by myself, hope dinner is better.

First day in Cairns, blogging at Tableland beteen Cairns and Townsville. Ignore those mistakes because I am in deep forest and do not really know where I am. But this is a very nice place. We were given tents and air matteress to keep ourself warm at night. The place has toilets, even though no electricity(we cook using headlamps), no internet access(when you see this post? Should have been days after it's intended date.) no water supply(we drink from water from the creeks nearby, someone please check out for me what creeks are as I wash myself in them too.)

The exact time I am blogging right now is 2203 hrs (+10:00) haha. First time I have to do this. Different time zone you see. Anyway, we spent most of the time travelling, posted my blog at airport at 12 plus? We landed at Cairns Domestic Airport at 10am. On first day but I learnt quite a number of stuff. There was a introuduction on "Staying Alive in Australia" haha. And the first slide they show a picture of a Evil Koula is that how u spell it? I think I spell it incorrectly. Anyway the point is it looks so much like one, u have to see to believe but is know as a Yanni, check it out if you are interested. And trust me you will not want to mess with it because it can hurt you quite badly with its sharp teeth. Then there are stinging tree, snakes, lizards big and small even scopions which are not poisonous but can irritate your skin. Then we are given survival kits, containing light stick(shouldn't have bought mine), whistle, food, blanket, elasto(to slow down blood when there is snake bite) ya, couple more stuff, typing in total darkness and real tired, gonna sleep, got stuff to do tml. Just a bit more for you...

I then spent some time with a few researcher in the kitchen, that is the only concrete shelter we have. Yup, and we were discussing some leaves, identifying them, features to look out for like vein patterns, stalks, oil pint in leave. Etc... And from this find the information from Australian Tropical Rainforest Key. Fantastic, in full detail, with pictures.

Spot lighting got cancelled due to bad weather. At night, temperture is very low. Now feeling very cold. Kk, very tired le. signing off. please share your opinions. Guys, I really miss you. My mum, my dad, my two sisters. Hope everyone is feeling good. Miss you lots. Hope you are with me.

Leadership
Is about Position of Influence not Position of Power. You can be the Chairman of the Company, a student club leader, a prefect but all this are positions of power. I call it Authority. But Authority is not leadership. I tell tell, out there in society, many people listen to authority not because they wish to. But more because they have to. Once, these leaders loses their position of power, no one would wish to listen to them anymore.

What is leadership, I believe Leadership is about influence. About having a group of people who beliefs has been changed by you. Who is willing to work in line with you. Go with your ideas. Believe in you. These leaders have followers who follows not him, but his ideas and beliefs. The leaders are respected not because of authority, but because they display beliefs and character that others regard in high esteem.

Aunt Gina mentioned X-factor, qualities of a leader. This to me are qualities that makes a person attractive. Increase influence. They are often character that you are attracted to. There is 5 qualities I want to highlight before ending this comment. They are: 1) Motivating, 2) Appreciative, 3) Forgiving, 4) Active Listener and 5) Understanding. Why this five is important? Think if the following applies to you.

According to John C. Maxwell, once New York Times Best Selling Author, what you want others to treat you. 1) You want others to encourage you. 2) You want others to Appreciate you. 3) You want others to Forgive you. 4) You want others to Listen to you. 5) You want others to Understand you.

Going to leave everyone soon. Looking at the current time when I am writing this post, I have only another 5 days, 6 hours, 49 mins left to my study trip to Australia. Special thanks to HSBC and National Youth Achievement Award(NYAA) Council for giving me this opportunity to work alongside Australian scientists at James Cook University in Northern Queensland on a Climate Change Research Project from 12 to 27 June 2007. This project on Climate Change in Australia will be the world's first. This trip is very important for me. It is a chance for me to find out myself, the effect of Climate Change in Rainforest. Unlike the many information I have been getting from many sources, For the first time, I am going to work on researching and creating information. There are also plans for further projects when we return from the trip. I am really looking forward to the trip.

This week has been a lucky week. Passed interview to this overseas study project and just yesterday, I receive a call saying I have won a iPod Nano 2GB. Isn't that great? Hope everything is doing well for my readers. Make your day better then mine alright? I am sure you could.

Bought a few books today using the 20% Popular Voucher. They are, "The Essential Teenage Handbook" by Christian T T Chua, "The Power of Positive NO" by William Ury, PhD and last and most recommended "Public Speaking for Success" by Dale Carnegie. Dale Carnegie is the Author of "How to make friends and influence others". This is the first self improvement book of my Life. Special Thanks to Judy Lee who was the person who gave me this book as a birthday present. It is this book that spur me to continue getting many other self improvement book like "Get anyone to do anything for you", "The definitive book of Body Language", Audio Book of "Who Moved my Cheese". And these books are great. They are what mould me to who I am today.

In school lo, one week of elearning or independent learning week passes so quickly. Gonna talk about some activities that I have went through this week.

The most significant one is of course Go Global Business Case which for those who have been following my post closely enough will know, it is a event lasting 3 weekends, having teams which comprises members from intentional schools, JCs,Polys, and ITEs. I am glad that it was a success and that many of the participants enjoyed and have benefited from the event.

Next, is the SEF Model City Competition. SEF is Scholastic Environment Fund and has been very dedicated in accomplishing it's goal of educating the young and engaging the in environmental activities. I am also proud to say that they have been very careful in use of resources during the competition. Labels are handwritten on used paper. Boxes are those previously used to contain paper, mugs are given as gifts but more importantly to replace the plastic cups used at each break, buffet with ceramic plates and metal spoon and forks instead of plastic and styrofoam ones. Certainly a good example for a environment organisation. I feel that Government Bodies, should learn from them.

Spent some days at RP for various reasons. Really enjoyed those time even though RP is a long distance from home. Also some night at NTU, and that one of the night I started watching 东方茱丽叶. Haha. That got me addicted to the show. Gonna be watching it while doing work for the next few weeks. Not very nice, but the show is decently enough to keep me interested.

Now, some stuff for my readers, Aunt Gina wanted a post on games in camps. I think there are many out there. Most importantly, I realised in more successful ice breaking, there should be some mass games carried out. Some for example the Evolution game where participant run around looking for others to play scissors, paper, stones. Another one, I learned recently is the Pirates Game. Nice since Pirates of the Caribbean is Hot nowadays and 2 because I think those active in camps might have know about Evolution already. The Pirates game is about giving combination of action and numbers. So the challenge is finding the correct combination of number and this can apply also to the number of males and females. I am also attaching a file I have created a file some time back when I was in Singapore History Museum. Hope it is helpful, you may download it here. It is now 5.40AM. Wow, 2 night never sleep le. Hai... so tired... Later at 9AM I will have to present for SEF Competition. Argh... Gonna sleep on Sunday. Haha, no video for Head, no name for 13th, friend sad no time to help, e-learning not yet done. Hmm... something is not right... Everyone gonna say I busy man again.

Most importantly, I sign up for HSBC/NYAA overseas research project to Australia. It is a research on Climate Change. Great Opportunity for me to understand better about Climate Change and to share the knowledge with everyone. Just hope I would be given the honour to be on this trip.

Start of e-learning week or Independent Learning Week. It feel so great, no need to attend school. However, life is still as ever. I still have other activities to attend to.

For external events involving the public, there is also the Committee for Publicity, Committee for Public Relations.

Upon forming the committee, the members of the committee will have to sit down and discuss the objective of the camp, the skeleton of the programs. Then everyone will breakup to construct the program their are responsible. The Coordinator coordinates everyone to ensure that IC for each activities report the logistics required to the logistics IC, who will ensure there is sufficient logistics available. Administrative IC will be in charge of the forms, procedure to join the camp, the money collected and spent for the camp. They are also responsible for taking special notice of those who medical conditions require special attention by trainers and first aider.

Schedules seems to be getting tighter everyday. With more events closing on one another and as expected overlapping. An example for today, I will be skipping my Basic Engineering Physics scheduled at 6pm-9pm to join my club members in building of the raft and testing it out to ensure it is ready for SP River Raft Race on Sunday. Readers out there, if you are free, come support me oh, Sunday morning at Singapore River. Also taking up alot of my time is Final Year Project. Schedules for the next few days alot of overlapping lo.

Tomorrow, my club starting their NYAA Camp. Following I have my GEMS Presentation when after which my group is intending to organise a movie outing but I supposed I have to skip that as I have to attend to Beatty NPCC when my NCO is having their last parade before Passing Out Parade. I believe I have to get myself prepared for Saturday's Go Global too.

Saturday will see the day start at 8am Republic Polytechnic. Far away lo. Hai... However, clashing in the same time slot is River Raft Race(Transportation of Raft to Singapore River). Sorry guys, have to leave you all to the job.

Sunday is the worse of all ba. Giving up Go Global(Much Regretted but can't be help) joining my dedicated team from Environment Club we will be rafting along Singapore River. Come Support me ya! haha.

co-currently I am starting my committment in Peer Tutoring Clinic starting next Wednesday and Friday. actually, even before the start of PTC, I am already helping a few of the weaker students in their work. Hmm... Enjoy doing tutoring ba. But because of these commitments I have to make sure I plan enough time for myself lo.

Haha. Hmm... After WORLDview 360, coming up, an event by National Youth Forum. I was brief when talking about this in the other post about Blood Drive. Into the details, read on as there will be areas you may wish to be involved in.

The “Go Global” Business Case competition aims to bring a bunch of students from completely different backgrounds together to tackle a business case study. Organized by the National Youth Forum 2006, the competition is open to students above 16 in JC, Polytechnic, and ITE schools, as well as international schools. For those who are interested in social entrepreneurship and learn about how to expand your operation overseas, this competition together with training workshops provides a good platform for you to pursue your interests. Here are more details about the competition.

Objectives
1. To give Singaporean youth the opportunity to work with young people from other cultures at an early stage of education.
2. To create interest in entrepreneurship in general and finding opportunities in particular.

Pre-Competition Workshops
19 May: 8.30a - 5.30p (Problem-Based Learning)
20 May: 11.00a - 6.30p (Problem Based Learning)

25 May (Fri) to 26 May (Sat) - Case Study
Participants will be given a case study which they have around 24 hours to respond to. To tackle the case study they will participate in an overnight camp at Republic Polytechnic. The case will be released at 3pm on 25 May (Fri), and a Powerpoint presentation will be submitted at 11.30am, 26 May (Sat).
The semi-finals (elevator test) will take place from 12 - 2.30pm on the same day.

The finals (large audience presentation) will take place from 4 - 6pm on the same day.

There will be days where the public will be invited oh. Will keep everyone informed. Special Thanks to Khair for inviting me to join the Programme as a facilitator. Sorry, realise that I shouldn't be just putting the info down. There is more then just program in this event. Glad that so far I have been through the Team Building phase for the participants. The game hosted by Settlers cafe was GREAT. It was called Business Cahoots. I have also came to know more about the cafe and start to love it. Settlers Cafe is a Game Themed Cafe. At the cafe, you will be treated to whole range of board games many of which you may not even have seen before. These games are much more interesting then computer games and would surely be a good medium for friends get together. After talking to it to many of my friend then I realise that actually many of my friends have already know about the cafe much earlier then I do. Other then listening to the new album, I have been listening to a couple of Podcast which I thought are interesting. Ranking at the top was Mr Brown Show which for the time being is stopped. Hence, it is replaced by 大头分

First Blood Drive of my life. Gonna be talking about my experience with the blood drive today.

Yesterday, the 8th of May 2007, I did my first Blood Donation at my school's blood drive. This is my first time after waiting for 2 years. I have been doing Blood Drives as a member of the SP Red Cross Humanitarian Network for 2 years. Every other Blood Drive, I have wanted to make my donation. However, as my mum forbids me from doing so, and I do not wish to get my dad(who allows me to) into this, I decided that I should wait till I reach 18 when I can finally donate without authorisation from parents.

Entering the Blood Drive as a donor felt very different from being a volunteer. Filling up the form and verification with the doctor went quite smoothly. Then I went on to the counter which does the testing of haemoglobin in blood. There I saw the first drop of blood for the blood drive. It felt like a needle prink. Not painful but did felt the prink.

Then the main part. waiting.... because it is lunch time ar. When most student will use for blood donation. Luckily I met a girl called Karen who was friendly enough to take the initiative to chat with me. It was her first too... I must say she is more couragous then me? Because looking at her, 1) Being a girl(I not MCP ya) 2) Being small in size, and she had the courage to donate. Hmm... Hence, I told myself then that I should be just fine. Having been comforting many in previous Blood Drive that the process is painless, I finally felt what First Time Donor felt. The uncertainty of what is going to happen after a blood drive. Anyway, as I felt very much the passion to donate my blood, the fear was easily shadowed. Then the needle came and after some instruction, the first injection entered, follow by the donation needle(which is quite thick) but it is really painless. It was looking at it that look ewww... But I couldn't do without looking at it. Because if I don't look at it, I will feel worse. Haha. Soon it was over, only managed to listen to one or 2 podcast and it is over le lo. Very fast.

Finally, wrap up and refreshment. Hence, add them all up, it only took me 1 hr, of which 10 mins for donation. Well, I hope this post would motivate more people to make donation.

Hey below is a song I wanna recommend. I came to know about this song as it is being used for WORLDview360 @ South West video. I felt that the song is quite nice and meaningful. Hope you could click on it and listen to it.

Got the inspiration to put this song also because I read a post by Aunt Gina on "We are what we think". This I agree to be very true. Something like "We are Who we Believe we are". Looking at what I have done for WORLDview 360, I might be signing up Go Global by National Youth Council. This is all to fulfill my goal this year of reaching more to the community and doing more to impact many others life. In the appreciation dinner I had at South West CDC last night, I thought of the many things that I have done so far. How my life is impact by others and how I should further impact other people's life. I think it is this kind of a mentality that pushes me, motivates me to continue serving the community and also how this society is able to remain humane. If you do realise, people in the past are more willing to help one another. Nowadays, there are more and more people becoming selfish in their actions and in the process, they start to close their heart to others. People who are afraid of being hurt, eg. Singaporean used to pour in millions into charity organisation yet because of the NKF incident, now many other organisation are having problems raising enough funds. Sometimes I thought, why shouldn't we trust them? It is not like we are donating our house, but along the roadm on flag days, I usually donates $2. If we cannot be physically able to contribute, the $2, I believe should be the minimal we should do. I mean, since it is only $2, ask a little about the organisation should be enough. I feel that some people are just using the NKF incident as a excuse for them not to part with the money.

I realise that many of you are spur on to response to my post on vegetarian diet. I am glad to see that and would like to draw your attention to this interesting website, which I thought would be able to help you understand better why I am doing what I am doing.

For all my readers out there, I will write more ba. Haha. Thanks to all readers, I realize my counter jump 100 after every few days. However, I do hope to hear more from my readers, so there can be more interaction and discussion. In that way everyone learn more.

First, I wanna share with you how I spent my Labour Day. Haha, Me and my extended family celebrated Happy Mother's Day with my Grandma at Carnivores at Vivocity. Interesting, it was the 15th of the Lunar Month which I have vowed to stay vegetarian. Hence, yesterday, a herbivore(only eat plant) enter a carnivores(only eat meat). However, in this small little event, I suddenly had a thought which may have change my whole idea about eating vegetarian.

I was on vegetarian and had only salad that day. But all around me, everyone was happily eating meat and praising how great it was. As currently I am only eating vegetarian on 2 days in a month, something I thought I wanna do to show my support against animal abuse and animal raised for consumption. Hence, everyone was like encouraging me to skip the day's promise, and have it replaced on the second day. Even my grandma who usually does the same as me, change the diet for the day. This reminded me something. What is the point of eating vegetarian on 2 days when the rest of the 28 days, I am eating meat just like anyone else. And that gives people excuse that I could easily replace the day with another day. I thought it is really insulting but firstly, they may not have understood why I went on vegetarian diet and it is indeed true that since I only ate on 2 days it makes not much difference having it on another 2 days. Hence, it did occur to me whether I should be on vegetarian diet for life. However, doing so, I need to be mindful that my family already give in by joining me on vegetarian for 2 days a month. If I go on full, are they going to join me? Hai... May need to consider this carefully.

Many things have happened to me recently. Big events in my life. Don't wish to share them here, but just wanna mention something so I can recall it in the future. I have seen so much these days, relationships, love, friends, hate, smokers, girls losing virginity at 17, old lady being ill treated, people who work hard yet not rewarded. There seems to be so much injustice in the world and why is it that the world is able to turn a blind eye to them. Had an interesting and most memorable activities called 'poverty dinner'. In this activities, we acted out the world's wealth inequalities. Of the hundred plus of us, some are given the dinner developed countries like US, UK, Singapore, another group in the middle class fed bread and water and the last group which forms the majority eats sweet potato and sat on the ground. Though short 2 hr event, it made me realise that yes, we have been for years, turn our back against the poor of the world. Simply because it would make us guilty seeing them suffer as we eat our dinner. Media does not show such situation much, governments sidelines sch cases in the countries so general public do not see them. I think this are all unfair treatment. Statistics have shown that in poor countries, families are feeding on les then $1 a day while in US, the cows are fed $2 a day. Isn't it time someone do something to this imbalance? I think it will start with me. Hope you could one day read of me posting on a activity I organised for this social cause.

Still got many more I wanna write about, eg. I have not answered Aunt Gina's request to talk organization of camp. Sorry, I will try to fit it into one of my post ya.

New Haircut. Haha, had a new haircut so wanna share with everyone how it look like. To say the truth my dad say not nice lo. But I felt it was alright la. Most important thing is it is short hence, feels cooler, lighter and easier to maintain.

I wish to express my sincere thanks to Terrance, for being a good coach. I believe I mentioned about 2 weeks ago how the facilitators' camp taught me good skills that I believe will be beneficial for a life time. The organising committee without which the event wouldn't be a success. However, I must state that I really wish to know the organising committee more personally, I felt that there isn't enough interaction between the facilitators and organising committee. To Chew Yee specially for bringing so much fun to the events. It has been nice working with you, hope to have opportunity working with you again. Enjoy your trip ya.

To the participant of Group 6. Thanks for all the hard work everyone put in without which we wouldn't have won the awards. It has been great having you guys as my group members. You guys have expressed initiatives, commitment, team-spirited and finally you guys have achieved success. I wish everyone all the best in your future voyage. My fellow group facilitator, thanks for being helpful when I couldn't make it for meetings and stuff. You have been of great help. I hope along the way, you have learned alot from WORLDview like I do and will join WORLDview again next year.

Last but not least to Shu Yi and Xiao Ying, for they are the ones who made WORLDview possible. Their many overtime nights, they are the ones often forgotten but has played essential role in the events. Personally, if not for Shu Yi, I wouldn't even be in WORLDview.

Earth Day Exhibition @ SP is a initiative I started last year. Since, there is actually Earth Day which generally is celebrated in Secondary, I thought it would be great to continue it in the Tertiary Institution. I hence, spear headed the first Earth Day Exhibition at SP Main Library with my President of the club, starting with the sales of Publication from the Green Volunteers Network, a Exhibition of Posters containing message on Animal Protection and Resources Conservation and Workshops and Talks for the student.

Thanks to the success of the event, we collaborated with the Library once again this year to spread the message of Water Conservation. We also did sales of Orchid Seedings which to answer Aunt Gina's Question were bought in from a supplier and repackaged for sale. We were happy to announce that for a targeted sale of 150 Orchid Seedings for 5 days, we managed to have it sold out in 2.5 days. This is half the number of days we expected to finished selling. The profit of the event would go to the club which will use the fund to generate more activities for the students. We are hoping to have the sales online for a limited time to cater to those who missed the sales and who didn't managed to buy the flower that they wish to purchase as there were a limited number of stocks for each.

SP Environment Club wish to thank all SP Student and Staff for their support for the event and most importantly to thank SP Library for sponsoring the venue and facilities and showing great support in SP Environment Club's Activities.

Aiyoyo. Disadvanged to using phone to blog. Yesterday, while in a talk, due to tiredness I started posting a post. Very long la. However, just when the talk finish and I was going to click the publish when I press the wrong button and all my efforts when into thin air.

Great thanks to Aunt Gina, sorry that I hasn't been visiting your blog and to say the truth many of my friends' blogs. Promise you guys after this wednesday I will pay everyone a visit. Especially some who I believe I need to pay special attention to.

I believe in today's post I need to apologise seriously to "friday the 13th" as I believe I must have cause great disappointment for having forgotten what happen or who the person is. I must admit that my memory is very poor. I believe that anyone who knows me well enough can vouch for me. I hope to be forgiven for my poor memory and be reminded of what happen on "friday the 13th" that is my last day of ITP right? But what happen that night after work, I have no impression at all. Is there something I must remember? I believe I can remember events better rather then the third. Hello! Blogging to everyone from my Mobile phone. Hope it will be a sucessful one. Has been working on alot of stuff these days, so if I can blog from handphone that would be a great thing.

Currently at Home Team Academy, 10pm le lo. Sian. So tired. Don't know when end sia. Still got so much to do at night. ITP Log Book. Hai... Actually supposed to be in Freshman Orientation Camp today. Yet the low uptake force us to pospone or even cancel the camp. I can see the disappointment in all my committee who I know have been working very hard for this camp. Hope they will be able to channel this energy to Earth Day Exhibition and the many activities coming up.

WORLDview has been rather successful. My group has been a active and healthy one. There is a well mix of student. Each contributing their best for the conference. I seriously hope they will make it in to finals and win the opportunity to set up a booth.

School start lo. First week not bad oh. Very fun modules. Delicated teachers. Hope things will be fine.

Last but not least I hope to put some photo taken at NPCC Day Parade to share with everyone.

Sorry again... I shouldn't have waited so long to have this post. Hai... But there is so much that is going on around me. So many things to do, so little time for them. Let you in on what has been keeping me busy.

1) Industrial Training Programme, this being the last week means alot of things to complete and wrap up. Finally, what seems like a long 9 weeks of work now seem to have passed so quickly. Really enjoyed my attachment with RSAF Air Logistic Department. Thanks to MSGT Lee, SSGT Koh, 2WO Ronald and CPT Alex. Also especially my partner from Singapore Polytechnic for keeping me company, Eugene Quak.

2) WORLDview360 @ South West. This is a program annually organised by South West CDC. I urge all my readers to take part. The information are below,

WORLDview360 @ South West: A Youth-Nique Fiesta is a two-week long programme that encourages our youths to Think Globally and Contribute Locally. Set to kick start on Saturday, 14 April 2007 and culminate with a Grand Finale on Saturday, 28 April 2007, we are looking for 150 youth participants who would like to learn, understand and develop themselves in the areas of Social Entrepreneurship and Enterprise (SEE).

2 We cordially invite youths aged 17 to 25, who:
a. are active in co-curricular activities and/or community service;
b. can communicate effectively; and
c. keen to learn and contribute in the area of social enterprise and business planning to join us!

3) Singapore Polytechnic Environment Club Freshmen Orientation and SEF Model City Competition. Both event which will happen in April itself is drawing real near. Too near for comfort. Thanks to my committee if not things would have been worse. Nevertheless, even the committee seem to be tired out. I hope these activities can end soon so everyone can have a good break.

Yup. That is all that I have been busying with. The most regrettable thing in this holiday is failure to finish my studies on HTML codes and creating a nicer blog site and SP Environment Website. Also, to finish setting up the "ME" page on my eBay account and start selling.

Kiwi! I watched this show couples of months back introduced by my sister. Watching it the first time didn't quite understand what was going on. However, after hearing from my sister was was going on, I felt very different about the video. Recently due to YouTube Awards, I was reminded of this good show. Hence, decided to share it with everyone.

This short film by Dony Permedi is about a flightless kiwi bird who spends his life trying to achieve his dream of flying. Make sure you have viewed the video before reading on.

This video shows the perseverance a Kiwi have to bring up the many trees, weighing much more then itself. It shows the determination of the Kiwi to reach his dream of flying. At the end, it shows the courage the Kiwi has to achieved his dreams. Looks simple but I find it very relevant to Life. Isn't it true that many a time, we give up just when we are next to success? Afraid of Hardship? Deem task as impossible. Do not have enough courage to fulfill our dreams. Which is why I want to share this video with everyone. Hope everyone can learn something out of it, just like I do.

It has been quite some time since I last post a new post. Sorry to all those who have been viewing my blog checking for updates everyday. Gina Aunt who make an effort to read every single post that I have written ever since this blog has it's first post. I believe it is all this little things that people around me does that truly touches my heart.

Lately numerous things happened, changing my views of Life. First and foremost my camp with Worldview Youth Conference who bring back all my memories and most important my confidence that youth indeed are interested in making a difference to the society. Second is my Industrial Training where I learned about working styles, politics etc. Lastly was what happen yesterday. Guess I need to resort my thoughts. Something happened yesterday and I really feel sorry to the person involved. Here I want to make a statement to remind myself so that the same thing does not happen again.

A story to tell: A Grandma very old. At the age of 70 over years was seen collecting cans, dragging it along the floor with a bag that is filled with holes. She was walking towards an area behind the staircase where there is come cardboards, where she live.

Maybe this is not so good an example. But what would you do when you see this? 6 out of 10 would go forward to assist the grandma to carry the cans to the place, of the 6 maybe 3 will offer her some money to buy lunch. The rest of the 4 may feel that this is just another old women and there is nothing much they can do to help. But have you realised something? This is already not a single case already, many went straight forward to help. But how much can they help? One meal? Two meals? How many times can they carry the cans for the grandma? None realised that we should always step back, think about what is really required, what is the problem. Then look at what caused the problem, before you step in to help.

Not knowing how to help may land you with offering unrequired help, waste of time and effort, cause misunderstanding and even land yourself into a difficult position. Heard of friends who tried to help others while ended up worsening it instead. I urge all to think before acting. Think of the consequence, your desired outcome before putting it to action. As for me, control of emotions is I believe what I need to remind myself about. To put myself in somebodies shoe, feel what they feel then think of solutions to help them also means I need to be sure I won't be affected by it too much. Otherwise, I should never step in to help as emotions are not easy to control. Trying to enter someone else's shoe may land me in the same situation may cause me to be in the same situation too. Example is if you are supposed to comfort a girl who have very pitiful background and you end up crying with her, how are you to b in a position to offer help. Even though I must say I have recovered now le, but I must seriously remind myself that I must not allow such things to happen again. Thanks for teaching me a lesson. Nevertheless, if you do need help in the future do not hesitate to look for me.

Hmm... Wish to write more but not enough time le. Got to do my stuff, share more in my next post ba.

Worldview 360 South West: A Youthnique Fiesta

Thanks for giving me such a wonderful time yet again in Worldview. The facilitators camp though short, has given me a deeper insights into facilitation skills, forge new friendships, expand my knowledge on Social Enterprising and most importantly had FUN.

To all fellow facilitators, your attendance, involvement and passion inspired the inner me and gets me even more motivated on working on this course. You relit my belief that Youth can do more and will do more for the community. Sorry, I know this sounds a bit negative because just recently I attended Poly Forum and that really make me lose confidence that Youth are interested in getting involved in the community. Hence, I wanna thanks all of you for giving me yet again confidence that yes we will contribute and work for our cause.

There is so much that I have come to learn from everyone and really, do not know how I can show my appreciation to everyone especially to the organising committee without which all these would not have been possible. Starting from Bernice, who I believe does all the contacts and administration work. Always doing so much, spend money calling everyone yet least notice for their background work, jia you oh. Li Ping who always means, FOOD and "Drinks anyone?". Carrying all those food must be rather tiring ba. Thanks lo. Gecko(Yue Hua?) Sorry that I don not know your real name. Thanks for the wonderful games you have planned. I believe they really helped alot in breaking the ice between all of us(the facilitators) ant the OCs. To Chewy? haha. Thanks for all the jokes and fun you inject into the camp. I think you have a wonderful personality. Very easy to get along with. Not forgetting the rest who have spent time and efforts to make this possible. Good Job OC!

Semester Result is out and for the first time I am pulishing my results online. However, this is not the kind of results I have expected nor had seen before. Just like the economic plunge this few days, my GPA has a drop of 0.2 which has been seen as the largest drop in the last 2 years since I received my first result slip.

Read alot on the Book of Genesis today and came to further understand Temptation.

Temptation focuses on 3 crucial areas:
1) Physical needs and Desire
2) Possessions and Power
3) Pride

This is shown in Genesis 3:1-6, Matthew 4:1-10, 1 John 2:15-16.

Further in Genesis 3:6-7 it is shown that often when we sinned, effects of sin spreads. After Eve had sinned, she involved Adam in her wrongdoing. Often, we try to relieve our guilt by involving someone else. It is best to confess our sin to God before we are tempted to pollute those around us.

I have also come to understand what Genesis 3:15 "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

This is the Promise of the Redeemer.
The phrase "you will strike his heel" refers to Satan's repeated attempts to defeat Christ during his life on earth. While "he will crush your head" foreshadows Satan's Defeat when Jesus rose from the dead.

First Session of my 12 Weeks Bible Study. I am gonna share with you what I learned every Monday for the Next 12 Weeks. Here is the First of the Twelve. For those out there who has been attending church service please don't laugh at me oh. Yup. Learned alot today and just wanna share with everyone.

The Old Testament consisted of 39 books covering 3600 years of Man's Existence by 32 Men. 5 Books of Law, 12 Books of History,5 Books of Poetry, 5 Book of Major Prophets and 12 Books of Minor Prophets.

Kk... Suddenly felt that this is a bit too lengthy for the average reader. I think what inspired me most in the short 2 hr session is the understanding of Genesis. What unknown to me was that despite reading the book countless time, I didn't realise the many things pointed out during the session.

On 2nd Day when God "separated the water under the expanse from the water above it" He did not said that it was Good, unlike the rest of the 6 days.

Man was not called forth, Genesis 2:7 "the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living thing"

Satan's Method of Temptation namely: Lust of the Flesh, Lust of the Eyes, Pride of Life

First Judgement: The Promise of the Redeemer

From the above I understood the Love of God and Temptation of Satan. I have also from my Study Bible found this.

Satan's Plan against Us

Doubt-Make you Question God's Word and his goodness

Discouragement-Make you look at your problem rather than at God

Diversion-Make the wrong things seem attractive so that you will want them more than the right things

Defeat-Make you feel like a failure so that you don't even try

Delay-Make you put off doing something so it never gets done

I find this very useful in daily life as I only now realised that alot of the wrong things done in life is indeed through one of the 3 Temptation. Lust of the Flesh, Lust of the Eyes and Pride of Life.

Sorry. I know I hasn't been updating my blog. I will continue from today. To update my Blog daily. Thanks to all those reader out there.
